Prayers Like Dandelions

Yesterday we found one of my favorite flowers blooming in my yard . . . this flower is bright, sunny and is a lovely shade of yellow . . . and it is known as the Dandelion!

I know. Your reaction is likely similar to my grandson Josiah's reaction. He told me Dandelions are weeds, not flowers, but I told him I still loved them anyway! I had this conversation with my grandchildren last year, so this year when the first Dandelion bloomed in my yard, my grandson Caleb ran out and picked the yellow flower-weed for me!

I am certain I'll be receiving many, many more handfuls of Dandelions throughout the summer!

So, why do I love Dandelions? My husband is baffled by this, because he shares Josiah's view of them . . . just weeds which pop up all over his yard! But, I love them because they are sunny, bright and children are able to pick them to their heart's content and no one will tell them to stop picking the flowers!

I love them because I love the twinkle in Caleb's eyes and the smile which stretches from ear-to-ear when he brings me a handful of them! (And I love how Shane follows his big brother's example and brings me lots of these yellow flowers, too!)

I also love them because they remind me of prayers. How do they remind me of prayers, you ask??? Because God treasures our prayers. When I bring Him myself by praying, He sees my prayers with an even greater love than the love with which I see the Dandelions in Caleb's and Shane's hands. Our prayers delight God and He wants to receive our prayers! They may seem tiny and insignificant to others - just "weeds", but to God they are "flowers" and I am able to talk with God - bring Him my prayers - as often and as many as I want!

I want my grandsons to understand their prayers are not "weeds" to God . . . they are beautiful, sunny "flowers" and He is delighted to receive them!   #grandmas #handingdownthefaith #itmatterswhatwedo #grandparentingonpurpose
