Welcome to "Grandmas with Heart"! We (Linda Ranson Jacobs, Debbie Guinn, Joani Schultz, Sherry Schumann, Nohemi Murray, Cathy Jacobs, Deb delVillar and Lynda Freeman) invite you to join us as we share about handing down our faith to our grandchildren.
It is our prayer you will find information and resources which equip and empower you to hand down the faith to your grandchildren! While there are many important people and things in my life and yours, if we are grandmas there is nothing more important for us to do than to hand down our faith to our grandchildren. I - and the other Grandmas with Heart - believe grandmas have much to offer to other grandmas. We know the concerns and joys experienced by grandmas and we understand the desire to hand down our faith.
It is our goal to provide books and other resources which will equip and empower you as you hand down the faith. While we are grandmas and want to provide resources for grandmas to use, we welcome grandpas and parents to join us as well, so we are able to impact the generations as generations, on purpose.
You may be wondering who these "Grandmas with Heart" might be; today I'm happy to "introduce" you to these dear grandmas. Linda Ranson-Jacobs is one of our grandmas. Some of you may be familiar with her ministry DC4K (Divorce Care 4 Kids - dc4k.org). Linda lives in Florida and has 10 grandchildren between the ages of six and twenty. Her grandchildren call her "Nana" - except for one who calls her "Grandma", and they live near and far from Linda - Florida, Texas and Oklahoma.
Debbie Guinn is “Mimi” to four grandchildren—three girls and one boy. She lives just north of Austin, TX where she co-parents her nine and seven-year-old grandchildren with her son. She has more than 25 years of experience working in Children’s and Family Ministries and is currently the Editor in Chief of HomeFront magazine (homefrontmag.com). She is passionate about equipping parents to become the leaders of God’s truth in their own households.
Many of you may recognize Joani Schultz asGroup Publishing's Chief Creative Officer. Joani lives in Colorado where she oversees the creation of Group's resources, training, and services. She is the author of numerous books including "Why Nobody Wants to Go to Church Anymore," and "The 1 Thing" and leads the teams which create Group's Bible curriculum, vacation Bible school, books, magazines, conferences, music, and training. Joani is also a new grandma! She is passionate about handing down the faith to her sweet granddaughter!
Sherry Schumann has four grandchildren, two girls and two boys. Sherry lives outside Charleston, SC; her granddaughters call her “Grandma,” and her grandson calls her “Nana.” Sherry is a founding member of the Legacy Coalition, the Co-director of Prayer Ministries for the Christian Grandparenting Network and writes a blog - Sitting by the Well http://sherryschumann.com/blog/
Nohemi Murray is the happy grandma of two little ones, who call her "Grandma" and "Yaya" and they all live in West Michigan. She is happily looking forward to the arrival of two more grandchildren!
Cathy Jacobs lives in South Carolina and has five grandchildren. Her grandchildren call her "Nina" and she LOVES being a grandma! Cathy is a founding member of the Legacy Coalition as well as the founder of Pass the Legacy (https://passthelegacy.wordpress.com).
Deb del Villar served with AWANA for years and is now part of the Legacy Coalition. She has 11 grandchildren (nine are boys) who call her "Grammy" and she lives in Tennessee.
I (Lynda Freeman) am also a Grandma with Heart. I am one of the founding team of the Legacy Coalition and have three grandsons who call me "Grandma"; we all live in Michigan. I have written six books for grandparents and one for children. I also write the blog - grandma's cookie jar - grandmascookiejar.net.
I live in the same town as Joani and would love for you to know that LifeSpring Covenant Church here does have a Grandmothers Connection. This year we were unable to do our annual gathering on the national Day of Prayer the 1st Thur in May. I just loved getting the calligraphy declaration by Timothy Botts in quantity so that we can present them to participants in our group and if they know of any first time Christian grandparents they may take one to gift to them. If we can encourage other gatherings, please allow us to share.
