G@P (Grandparents at Prayer)

One of our Grandmas with Heart is Sherry Schumann. Sherry is the National Prayer Co-Director at the Christian Grandparenting Network. Today she is sharing with us about G@P - Grandparents at Prayer.

Thousands of years ago, Queen Esther stood in the gap for her people when their physical lives were threatened. Today, God is mobilizing an army of praying grandparents to stand in the gap for their grandchildren. Will you join our ranks?

Those of us affiliated with Christian Grandpraenting Network are committed to encouraging, empowering and equipping you to pray regularly for your grandchildren, both privately and corporately.

The greatest responsibility of Christian grandparents is to pray DAILY for our children and grandchildren. "First of all, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgiving be made for all people." (1 Timothy 2:1)

Tremendous power is unleashed through CORPORATE prayer. G@P (Grandparents at Prayer) groups provide a safe environment for two or more grandparents to gather and pray for their grandchildren. Most groups schedule their meetings weekly, bi-monthly or monthly. Meetings last approximately one hour. The structure of the meetings is determined by the group members. Some groups begin with fellowship, while some begin with a brief devotional. The important thing is to PRAY!

For more information about G@P, please visit Christian Grandparenting Network's website -

"I love the sweet fellowship, support and friendships of my Grandparents at Prayer Group. I feel safe to share my heavy heart of my concerns for my grandchildren and their parents, knowing others will be praying for them. It is wonderful to see how God is answering our prayers in the lives of our families as we pray for them." Carol Glad, OR

We are in the process of updating the prayer page on Christian Grandparenting Network's website. This page includes a directory, which contains G@P (Grandparents at Prayer) groups who are currently meeting. Our hope is grandparents who are interested in G@P will discover a group in their area and feel encouraged, either to join or start a G@P group of their own. If you already are praying with other grandparents, may we include your name, email address, city and state in our directory? If so, please contact me directly at
