The innocence of childhood is in danger of extinction. Promiscuity, sexual innuendos and obscenities—found everywhere from family sitcoms to roadside billboards—threaten to desensitize today’s youth and steal their childhood. It’s time we pray against the loss of our grandchildren’s childhoods.
Dearest Lord Jesus,
You are “a shield around us, our glory, the One who lifts our heads high” (Psalm 3:3). Shield the eyes and ears of our grandchildren from the depravity that inundates our culture. Guard their hearts and minds, so they are able to enjoy the innocence of their childhoods. Give their parents (and grandparents) an increased awareness of their need for protection. “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life” (I Thessalonians 4:7).
