Things We Truly Never Tire Of & Truly Matter

Ten years ago today, I became a grandma for the first time! Those ten years have flown by for sure! In the years since I have been so blessed to get to know my grandson, and his brothers and am able to say this saying is absolutely true - I never get tired of watching them grow!

It has been such a blessing to watch my grandsons grow physically and develop interests (coding, rocks and fossils are currently interests for my grandsons), but even more so to watch them grow in their own love for and walk with God! We gave our oldest grandson a new teen's study Bible when he started Middle School Ministry at our church this Fall and he immediately began reading Revelation. When he came across things he didn't understand, he looked them up and talked with his Poppa to understand what was being said. A few days ago my seven year old grandson told me his favorite thing about the Bible - he said; "There is a guy in there whose name is Caleb (as is my grandson) and he was a spy, warrior and wasn't afraid to fight giants, even when he was 80 years old!" Our youngest grandson insists he is "called by God" to be a pastor (he is five). Watching as these three boys draw near to God is truly one of the best things I could ever experience!

Grandchildren are absolutely gifts from the hand of God. Watching them grow physically and in their love for and walk with God; and helping them to do this - what could be a better way to spend the last years we have on this Earth! So, engage with them - no matter their age and whether they live near or far - and be purposeful about handing down the faith - these are truly things we are able to never tire of and things which truly matter!
