Prayer for Those Left in the Wake of Hurricane Michael

Heavenly Father,

We shutter at the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Michael: decimated buildings and homes, damaged roadways and bridges, toppled trees and power lines, and the most tragic of all, loss of life.

We pray You will raise up an army of unsung heroes, families helping families, neighbors helping neighbors, communities helping communities and Americans helping Americans.

We pray for You to direct the footsteps of the search-and-rescue teams as they move house-to-house, searching for trapped survivors.

We pray You will protect the residents from downed power lines, fallen trees and unsafe drinking waters. Give them patience as they await food, water, electricity and medical help.

We pray everyone, from the governors of Florida and Georgia to the grandparents picking up debris from their yards, will call upon You to help them rebuild, for You alone are the One who binds up the brokenhearted, releases the prisoner from darkness and restores beauty from the ashes (Isaiah 61:1-3).

We pray in Jesus’ Name.
