I have experienced difficult situations and people in my life and at the time I did not see how they could be blessings, but they did cause me to pray more. Praying more brings me closer to God and gives me the opportunity to see first-hand how He is working in my life, so I am able to agree with Charles Spurgeon.
I know my children and grandchildren will experience difficult situations and people in their lives and I sincerely want them to be able to see God's hand and trust Him during those times. If they pray while experiencing these things, they are more likely to be drawn closer to God, so it is my prayer for them to become people who pray - in the times when they are experiencing joy and the times when life is difficult.
Consider making these verses from Isaiah 41 your prayer for your children, grandchildren and for yourself as well . . .
Dear God, thank You for choosing us; please help us hold tightly to You and to trust You instead of feeling afraid or confused, no matter the situation or person with whom we are dealing. As we go through this day, please help us turn to You, be able to see and remember how You are with us and feel encouraged when we do. Thank You for being our God, for giving us strength, for helping and holding us no matter what we face. Thank You for loving us; I love You, too. Amen.
