We Can Not Love Too Much

My youngest grandson asked me last night why I tell him I love him every time I see him. I told him, because I am grandma. He looked at me, smiled and said, "You are filled with love from the bottom of your toes to the tippy of your head!" Oh yes! Without a doubt. I am "filled with love from the bottom of my toes to the 'tippy' of my head!"

We grandmas fell in love the moment we saw our grandchildren (the poppas, too) and we will never run out of love for these wonderful gifts from the hand of God. I tell my grandsons, "God gives the very best gifts - He gave you and your brothers to me!" Their eyes sparkle and they get smiles which reach from ear-to-ear when they hear me say this. They know it is true - they hear me say I love them and see me show my love every time they are near.

I am a firm believer in how it is impossible to spoil grandchildren (yes, I wrote a book about this!). If we follow the example Jesus gave us of loving well and generously, we will not spoil our grandchildren, we will just help them feel loved, secure, valued and oh, so wanted.

When we love our grandchildren well, it is easier for them to believe God loves them. When they ask me why grandmas love their grandsons, I tell them it is they way God made me. I tell them God wants grandmas to love their grandsons, so their grandsons will be better able to know God loves them. As much as I want my grandsons to know I love them, I want them to know God loves them even more!

So, "love as Jesus has loved us - we can not love too much!"
