Saturday Promises - God Gives Us His Peace - John 14:27

We all want to live in a world and in homes where we experience "Peace", but do we really know what it is? Dictionary.com defines "peace" as;
  • the normal, non-warring condition of a nation, group of nations or the world
  • an agreement or treaty between warring or antagonistic nations, groups, etc. to end hostilities and abstain from further fighting
  • a state of mutual harmony between people or groups, especially in personal relations
  • freedom of the mind from annoyance, distraction anxiety, an obsession, etc. tranquility, serenity
  • state of tranquility or serenity
  • silence; stillness
Peace is all of these things, but as wonderful as these descriptions of peace are, God's peace is even better! In John 14 Jesus said His peace is more than the peace of the world and it is a gift from Him. In Isaiah 26:3 we read -
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.
And in Psalm 119:165 we see more about God's peace -
Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.
Oh yes, God promises to give us a great and perfect peace which is so far beyond anything the world will offer - and it is a gift from Him!

So today, whatever is on your mind, whatever weighs you down or fills you with fear, sadness, worry or leaves you feeling like you are stumbling and falling, know God wants to give you His perfect, great peace which takes away the trouble and fears and is far, far above anything this world gives.

He promised to give us His peace - and we are absolutely able to depend upon Him; so take it and tell your grandchildren, so they are able to experience this peace, too!
