Gather the Family & Create Memories

What do you remember from when you were a child? Which family memories stand out for you when you think about being young? For me I remember holidays and birthdays when the family got together . . . in the winter we always gathered for holidays and in the summer we got together for picnics with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and even neighbors - great times for sure!

Now when we gather family together, we are the grandmas which means we are able to help create these same wonderful memories for our grandchildren - and grown children, too!

Creating memories and family traditions is one of the things we do to hand down the faith. It makes a powerful and lasting impact when children are able to see and hear their grandparents, aunts, uncles, even great-grandparents talk about how God has been faithful to them. What better time to do this than when the family is gathered together around a table! This is one of the reasons God had His people hold so many celebrations - He wanted them to remember His love and share it with the generations.

When I think about all those family gatherings from my childhood, one of my favorite memories is of thanksgiving gathered around the table with family. What do you think of when you think of the family gatherings of your childhood?
