The world in which our grandchildren are growing up is different than it was when we were children. Today it is not a "given" the Bible is true. Our grandchildren are likely to know people who do not believe the Bible is true. They are likely to have teachers and neighbors who do not believe the Bible is true and see and hear on TV how the Bible is not true.
But, just because the world in which they live is different, it does not mean the Bible is not true. Truth is still the truth whether people believe it is true or not. So, this Summer, take time to research even one reason why we are able to believe the Bible is true then share the facts and evidence with your grandchildren. Yes, the Summer is a wonderful time to build fun memories, but it is also a great opportunity to help your grandchildren learn something important - they are able to believe the Bible with confidence, because it is true.
To help you do this I am going to give you a list of links to resources which you may use to learn and share with your grandchildren.
- This link will take you to a free e-Book from Josh McDowell. It is a short/quick read - read it and you will be encouraged with the account of how he discovered ancient - some of the oldest written copies of the Bible and how it shows God's Word is true and reliable. Read it and share it - tell to young grandchildren and let your older grandchildren read it for themselves - then talk about it together.
- This link will give you a free pdf for the Heroic Truth Magazine for children. This amazing tool will help them see how there is evidence for God, the Bible and Jesus then challenge them to examine the evidence to see the truth. Again, read it and share it - tell your young grandchildren and let your older grandchildren read it for themselves - then talk about it together.
- At this link you will find more than 30 questions and answers - such as, "Does it really matter what I believe?", "How do you know God exists?", "How can I know the Bible is true?" and many more. Research, pick topics - or have your grandchildren pick topics and discover the answers together.
- At this link you will find the transcript for Josh McDowell's story - "Undaunted". It is powerful to know - and tell your grandchildren - Josh McDowell was a person who wanted to prove the Bible was not true, but in his research he discovered it is true and came to believe it. The facts are what they are and the facts show the Bible is true! Josh's story is powerful. Read it and share it!
No matter the age or location of your grandchildren, equip yourself and share with them a confident faith grounded in the facts. Share the Truth!
