Encourage Your Grandchildren With - Well Done! I'm Proud of the Work You Did!

There are many things grandparents are particularly accomplished at doing when it comes to grandchildren - one is certainly being the, "biggest cheerleaders" for their grandchildren. Yes, we tend to be people who encourage our grandchildren and help to build their self-esteem.

Our grandchildren, whether they comment on this or not, remember the encouragement offered by grandparents, which means encouraging our grandchildren needs to be at the top of our "to-do list" as grandparents as the words we use to encourage are likely to be remembered.

So, watch for opportunities to honestly encourage your grandchildren. I say, "honestly encourage", because if we try to encourage saying something they know is not true, our words will have the opposite impact - they will not build our grandchildren up and will cause them to doubt our honesty.

One easy and important area we are able to encourage our grandchildren is in the area of watching as they work hard at a project/activity and then telling them you are proud of the work they did. If your grandchildren have been working hard to learn to read, learn their times tables, learn an instrument, learn to code, play on a sports team, work through their classes in college or start a new job, be sure to notice the work they have put in to the thing they are working to learn/do and tell them you are proud of the work they are doing.

This will encourage your grandchildren and build them up - and will build our relationship with them as well. So, watch for what your grandchildren are doing and encourage them - it will make a difference!
