Make an Impression & a Lasting Difference

I have just been blessed to celebrate another birthday of one of my grandsons. As we celebrated I was reminded of what a gift he is and how very thankful I am for him.

I told him I love him and am ever so thankful for him and he just smiled and said he knew it. He has heard it . . . a time or two! I love him and his brothers unconditionally - and they know it. Not only have they heard this - a lot - but they see it in the things I do.

One day this past Summer my youngest grandson looked at me and asked; "How do you do it, grandma?" I asked him what it was I did and he said; "You smile all the time. How do you do it?" Well, first of all I did not know I smiled all the time, but his brothers agreed I do this. I told them when I see their sweet faces and think about how much I love them and am so thankful for them, I can not help but feel joy; and apparently it shows on my face. I am so glad they see my love for them on my face.

Unconditional love regardless of what our grandchildren do - or do not. This is the love we want our grandchildren to see bubbling out of us. I tell my grandsons as much as I love them, God loves them even more and this typically gets an amazed reaction. My middle grandson told me a few years back when he was a preschooler; "Then God must love me an awful lot!" He does and we grandparents are able to give our grandchildren a tangible example of what this unconditional love looks like - on a small scale - but on a scale which makes an impression and a lasting difference.
