Continue to Point Your Grandchildren to God

As grandmas (and grandpas) who are focused and intentional when it comes to handing down the faith, there may be times when we wonder if what we are trying to do is actually being accepted by our grandchildren; or not. We may wonder if we are effective when it comes to handing down the faith; or not. We may wonder if our grandchildren are really being impacted for Jesus by the things we say and do; or not.

Sometimes I wonder these things. Along with teaching our grandchildren what the Bible says, my husband and I are focused upon teaching them the "whys" - why we are able to believe God is real and trust the Bible with confidence. One of the ways we do this is by talking about how each of them and all of creation show how our amazing God is creative and apparently He enjoys being creative . . . after all, He created platypus, kangaroo, okapi, dumbo octopus and us!

This past Wednesday, night on the way to church for the mid-week Children's Ministry, our middle grandson told us about a rare lobster (one in 50 million) which had recently been found - he said it was half black and half orange and then he said; "This lobster shows us how God is so creative!" Apparently he is listening and taking to heart the conversations we have been having. Made my heart very happy!

So, be encouraged! Continue to hand down the faith - it truly is an amazing privilege. Continue to talk about how amazing God is and how He created and loves them. Continue to build your relationship. Continue to focus upon loving your grandchildren with your all unconditionally. What you say and do does matter; it does make a difference - it does, "stick".
