Do the Will of God

While this quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is one which has a powerful message for the ones we love, it also has an important and essential message for grandmas - and grandpas, too. Especially as we approach retirement. The most important things for us, now and for however many more days we have before us, are not for us to be happy, achieve pleasure and avoid pain, but the single most important thing for us is to, "do the will of God", no matter what.

It is far too easy for us to think our last days should be spent chasing after "bucket lists", relaxing, golfing, traveling, etc. None of these things will bring us any true joy. Our final days need to be spent on what matters the most as no matter what we, "do the will of God".

So, what is God's will for us? God tells us in Deuteronomy 6 He wants us to hand the faith to the generations who come behind us. Think about it, if we fail to hand the faith to the ones we love, will any number of trips, any special experiences, any time spent doing things with friends, etc. will ANY of these things matter?

Spend your last days (months, years - however many they may be), doing what matters the most . . . "do the will of God".
