Follow God & Impact the Ones You Love in a Strong and Lasting Way

We talk a lot about choosing to follow God, but what does this mean? What does it look like for us to choose to follow God? The answer is simple;

"To be someone who lives by choosing to follow God is to be someone who chooses to read, trust and pray; no matter what.

We follow God by choosing to read His Word, trust what we read in His Word and talk with God. This may seem obvious to you; an absolute, "no-brainer", but it is the truth. For us to walk with and follow God, we must read, trust and pray. These are essential for us.

And, when we read, trust and pray, not only do we grow stronger as we follow God, but we leave and example the ones we love are able to see. This is more powerful than any words we say. When our grown children and grandchildren see us reading the Bible; this impacts them in a strong and lasting way. I remember my grandparents and parents reading their Bibles - I am still able to see them in my mind's eye as they sat in their chairs in their living rooms reading their Bibles. Powerful impact made.

When our grown children and grandchildren see us choosing to trust God, especially when life is difficult, this impacts them in a strong and lasting way. When my oldest grandson's name was not drawn last Spring for admittance to the school he wanted to attend this Fall, I told him I did not know why God didn't open the door for him to the school he wanted to attend, but I absolutely believed God had something better for him . . . although I had absolutely no idea what could possibly be better. Then four months later - a very long four months later - we were able to see the "better" God had in mind as He made it possible for my son and daughter-in-law to buy a new house in an amazing school district. My grandson now says God had a "way better plan" than anything he could have thought of and not just for him, but for his whole family! He is right. He, and all of our family, were able to see what it looks like to trust God - and how God comes through!

When our our grown children and grandchildren see us choosing to pray, especially when life is difficult, this impacts them in a strong and lasting way. I have history of how my grandparents prayed, and how God answered. My grandsons have history of how their grandparents prayed, and how God answered. When they moved into their new home, my middle grandson - after running through and exploring the new house - came up to me and said; "Grandma, I LOVE how God answers your prayers!" They have been impacted in a strong and lasting way.

So, build a strong Spiritual DNA for your family and be someone who chooses to read, trust and talk with God - it will impact the ones you love in a strong and lasting way and is how you follow God.
