Prayer of Protection on Halloween
Reminders of Halloween are springing up everywhere. Candy corn, caramel apples, Tootsie pop “ghosts” and plaid-shirted scarecrows decorate the schools, groceries and homes in our neighborhood.
As grandparents, we can’t help but worry about our precious grandchildren on Halloween. We pray You protect them from mischievous, shady and cruel characters who delight in playing tricks on unsuspecting children.
We also pray You protect our grandchildren from becoming enamored by the supernatural and engaging in “harmless” practices, thereby opening the door to Satan’s influence. Please let them avoid the occult, witchcraft and the macabre symbols of death assigned to Halloween. Let them “choose life” (Deuteronomy 30:19), not death.
This Halloween, let them celebrate the fact of while “the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy, You came that they may have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).
In Your Name, we pray.
