Help the Children You Love Know, Experience & Believe the Power of Prayer

I have struggled with prayer all my life. I didn't know how to pray, so I didn't know how to help my daughter and son know how to pray. But, I have learned and I am committed to be intentional when it comes to helping my grandsons learn to pray.

This is important, no, it is essential if I want them to have a real walk with God, because to walk with God . . . really walk with God, my grandsons need to know how to talk with God, themselves. While they absolutely need to hear their poppa and I pray for them and they need to know we pray for them, these things are not enough. They have to be people who talk to God themselves.

We want our grandchildren to know - and believe - and experience how when they pray, as Corrie Ten Boom said; they "leave a world of not being able to do something, and enter God's realm where everything is possible." Yes, I want my grandsons to hear how God has answered my prayers, but it is far more important for them to experience how God answers their prayers.

This will not just "happen" on its own; so we have to be intentional about introducing them to prayer - sharing how God has answered our prayers and engaging them in prayer - helping them learn how to talk with God for themselves. This is why my grandsons and I wrote Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children  to help children learn to talk with God.

I know, I've been writing quite a bit about prayer and this book in the past few weeks. It is because I have come to understand how essential it is for our children to learn to talk with God for themselves. You may not know it, but I write another blog - grandma's cookie jar. In this blog I post about handing down the faith and fun ways to connect with grandchildren - and children, too. I also from time to time have fun giveaways. Yesterday I announced a giveaway for one print copy of Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children. You will find all the details at this link if you would like to enter the drawing.

And, as I announced yesterday, December 2-6, 2019 you are able to download for free the Kindle copy of Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children. Now I believe the print copy is better for children, but this is possibly related to me being a grandma and not the most tech-savvy! My grandsons tell me children today do use tech and digital books. I still like the idea of being able to have your own copy of a book in which the children we love are able to journal; but even if you decide to give print copies of this book to your grandchildren children (and if you do, please remember it takes about ten days to receive the books, so you will want to order soon to have them in time for Christmas) the Kindle digital copy is still an excellent tool for you to use to follow along what your grandchildren/children are doing each week as they pray through the Psalms, so be sure to download your free Kindle copy.
