Much For Which to Be Thankful

When we think about being thankful, we often think of blessings and answers to prayer - all of which we have definite reason for which to be thankful. But, the difficult times of life, the painful times, the problems are not typically the things which come to mind as we share the things for which we are thankful. But, as Mr. Rogers said; "There's no normal life which is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems which is able to be the impetus for our growth." As we prepare for Thanksgiving next week, give yourself time to consider those difficult, challenging, even painful things you have faced and how you were able to see God with you throughout. Consider planning to share how you are ever so thankful for those times and how God used them to help you grow.

It is inevitable your grandchildren will one day face those difficult times; if they have not already done so. If they are able to remember how you shared your challenges and the way God used them in your life for blessing, these memories may be the very thing which point them to Him for the help they need, the "Impetus for their growth."

So, share the blessings and share the challenges. Be sure your children and grandchildren know both are blessings. One day they may be the one who shares the blessings of difficult times so another generation knows where to turn when they face those challenges which come with life - which give much for which to be thankful.
