A Love Which Needs No Talk

When it comes to love for another person; such as the love a grandma (or grandpa/parent) has for a grandchild/child, dictionary (dot) com defines it as;
A feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a (grand)parent, child, or friend.
This is, I'm sure we would all agree, a solid definition for the word, "love", but God's Word gives us an even better "definition" and picture for what love really is all about. Just look at 1 Corinthians 13 -
  • Love is kind and patient, never jealous, boastful, proud, or rude. Love isn’t selfish or quick tempered. It doesn’t keep a record of wrongs others do.
  • Love rejoices in the truth, but not in evil.
  • Love is always supportive, loyal, hopeful, and trusting.
  • Love never fails!
  • For now there are faith, hope, and love. But of these three, the greatest is love.
While it is important for us to tell the ones we love of our love for them, it is far, far more important, valuable and necessary for us to show our love for them by the way we are kind, patient, never jealous, boastful, proud or rude to them. We show it by giving our ourselves and not being quick tempered. We show it by giving them a "clean slate" each and every time. We show it by loving the truth and always being supportive, loyal, hopeful, trusting and unfailing. When we show love in these ways, the ones we love will know they are loved, because they will see it, experience it and understand it.

As 2019 ends and 2020 begins commit all over again to show love to your grandchildren/children. If your family understands and lives by God's definition of love, this may be fairly easy for you to do. If they do not, it may be more challenging, but remember, love never fails. It is always faithful, constant, patient and kind. Look to God for not only the perfect example of what love looks like, but look to Him to experience His love for you. Find your comfort and strength in His love and then with His love empowering you, show love to the ones you love, so your love is one which, "needs no talk."
