Be Equipped to Grow in Your Prayer Life & Equip Those You Love to Do the Same

I love this quote from Tony Evans - prayer is our connection between God and us; through prayer we are never alone at any point in time and any place we will ever be. While there may be times when we feel alone, concerned, or even overwhelmed, the truth is we are never alone and talking with God is the very best way to deal with concern and feelings of being overwhelmed. We need to hold strongly to the truth of how prayer connects us with God and live lives which show we believe it with our all.

We also need to be intentional when it comes to passing on this essential message to the ones we love. Just as we need to hold tightly to God in prayer, so do our children and grandchildren. We must model what it looks like to be people who pray and we must equip them to be people who pray. To help you with this I am going to share three sources for resources designed to help you pray and equip those you love to do the same.

The first are free resources from the Christian Grandparenting Network. At this link you will find free downloadable cards with Scripture prayers, prayers for grandchildren in school, prayers for grandparents, prayers for parents, prayers for teen grandchildren - these are excellent resources for you. Print them out and put them in your Bible - use them! And while you are there, check out the Christian Grandparenting Network - it is an excellent source for information, ideas and resources to equip you to be a grandparent who makes a difference by grandparenting on purpose.

The second source is our Grandmas with Heart Book of the Month by Lillian Penner -  Grandparenting with a Purpose provides specific examples of prayers, such as alphabet prayers, prayers based on Scriptures, and suggestions to pray for all ages. You may even widen the circle, praying for other children in your life, for children who have parents in the military, and for the adults who influence your grandchildren. From cell phones to photo prayer journals, you’ll find tools and Scriptures to pray intentionally for your grandchildren and their parents.  Regardless of how far they live from you, your prayers for them will bridge the distance between you and leave them with an inheritance more precious than gold. This book is a must-have for your effective grandparenting tool box - you will find it at this link.

Finally a third source is a tool to help you equip your grandchildren, so they become people who pray; which is one of the most important things we will ever do for them. I often hear parents/grandparents talk about how they wished they knew what to do to help the children they love learn to pray - to hand down the faith to them. Well, I am very happy to tell you my and my grandsons' new book - Praying Deeper Through the Psalms is exactly what you are looking for as it will help you equip and teach children ages four - 14 how to pray the Psalms. I know - I wrote the book, so of course I believe it is an effective way to help the children you love learn to pray. Well, look at what Karl Bastain from Kidology, Linda Ranson Jacobs from DC4K and Jane Larson from the Legacy Coalition have to say about it -

"Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children is a wonderful, insightful and practical devotional book for loving adults to guide their children or grandchildren through. I love that the author's grandchildren contributed to the art in the book, which will certainly engage young readers. I look forward to guiding my son through this helpful resource."

Pastor Karl Bastin, Dad, Founder of Kidology.org

"I love this book. One of the best elements is how it is set up on different developmental levels. No matter the age of your child, they will find comfort in the Word of God, because they will be better able to understand the message. Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children is one of the best resources a grandparent,
parent or even Bible study teacher will give to a child."
Linda Ranson Jacobs - Mom, Grandma, Author - "The Single Parent Confident & Successful", Founder/Creator of DC4K - Divorce Care for Kids, Church Initiative Ministry Ambassador

"I love this joint project created by Lynda and her grandsons! Praying Through the Psalms for Children will help grandparents and parents be intentional in prayer and Bible reading with their grandchildren. It is easy to see how this book will enable grandparents and parents to pray more effectively for and with the children they love. As a children's ministry professional, I’m happy to see resources created for grandparents/parents to help encourage a strong faith in the next generation. Grandparents are the second greatest influence in the lives of their grandchildren; what they do matters. This book is a helpful tool for special time together."
Jane Larson
Mom, Children’s Ministry Speaker,
Legacy Coalition Director of Connections

In this day when so much is uncertain - and even concerning - this book is exactly the tool you are looking for as it will help the children you love learn to be people who pray. Consider getting it for them - it is available on Amazon at this link and at Kidology at this link.

Check out - and use - these resources as they will equip you to grow in your own prayer life and will enable you to help the children you love do the same.
