Make a Difference Which Lasts Forever

Many of us have grandchildren who have been blessed to grow up in homes and families where they are loved, cherished and valued - and where they grow up knowing these things. But, there are some families where drugs, divorce, poverty, difficulties, illness, bullying or even violence have made their mark on the children; some of these children end up in our foster care system while others end up with their grandparents becoming custodial grandparents. The children who experience these things often grow up desperately searching for someone, anyone who will love them and help them feel like they matter and have value simply for who they are.

We do not know what life holds for the ones we love, so it is essential for us to lay and then build upon a firm foundation where we tell, teach and show the children we love some essential truths . . .
  • God loves them. (John 3:16)
  • God knew what He was doing when He created them - and He did not make any mistakes. (Psalm 139)
  • God has good plans for them - plans for their good which will bring them hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)
  • God wants to know them - and He wants them to know and talk with Him. (Jeremiah 29:12-14a)
  • God wants them to know they have incredible value to Him. (Matthew 6:25-34)
  • We love them forever and they have incredible value to us.
If your grandchildren are blessed to grow up in homes where they are loved, cherished and valued, be intentional about helping them to know, understand and believe these truths about them, as doing so will help to equip them to both face whatever life brings their way and hand down the faith one day when they have children and grandchildren. If your grandchildren are in a home situation where they desperately need to know they are loved, cherished and valued, be intentional about helping them to know, understand and believe these truths about them as well.

Either way, it is essential for us to be intentional about helping the ones we love know, understand and believe these truths - touch their lives, make a difference in their lives which will last forever.
