Reasons to Pray

Certainly as grandmas (or grandpas/parents) we have many reasons for us to be people who pray for the children we love. There are so many things we want to see happen with them and in their lives - things which we know we are not able to bring about, but we know God is.

But, I love how Philip Yancey writes about a wonderful reason for us to pray - "When I pray for another person, I am praying for God to open my eyes, so I may see them as God does, and then enter into the stream of love God already directs toward them.Certainly this is a reason for us to pray for others - especially the children and grandchildren God has given to us. We want . . .
  • God to open our eyes, so we are able to see them as God does - as His dearly, dearly loved children who He created with a plan and purpose - to bring them good and give them hope.
  • Enter into the stream of love God already directs toward them - when we love them with the love God gives us for them, it is the best love we will ever give them. It is a love which wants their best. A love with no selfish motives. A faithful, never-ending-no-matter-what love.
So, be a grandma (or grandpa/parent) who sees the ones God has given to you as He does and who loves them; someone who prays for them. It matters and makes a difference in their lives - and in your own.
