Top Five Prayer Requests for My Grandchildren

I pray for my grandsons. When I look at this world around me and how God's Word is mocked and disregarded, I am concerned about what it will be like for them to grow up. I most sincerely want my grandsons to grow to be boys and then men who know, love and walk with Jesus, so I pray. I pray for them, because while I am limited in what I am able to actually do, God is not. He is bigger than I think He is and He is able to do ever so much more than I will ever even begin to imagine!

So, about what do I pray? Certainly the list has a number of things on it and changes depending on the situations they are facing, but the main prayer requests I have for them are as follows . . .

  • For God to draw them to Him. (John 6:44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.") There is nothing more important to me than for my grandsons to put their trust in Jesus. for this to happen, God needs to draw them to Him, so I pray for this for them. I pray this for my daughter, son and daughter-in-law as well.
  • For God to open their eyes. (2 Kings 6:16, 17 - “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord  opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.) I pray for my grandsons to have open eyes, so they will see their need for Jesus, for them to have open eyes, so they will be able to see what the wise and godly choices are for their lives in this world which is so very dark and so they will be able to see how God is working in their lives. I also pray for them to have open eyes, so they will be able to see the truth in this world where so many are deceived by Satan's lies. I pray for them to have open eyes. I pray this for my grown children as well.
  • For God to protect them from the evil one. (John 17:15 - My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.) This world is frightening. There are so many things out there to deceive my grandsons. I am not able to protect them from the things in this world, but God is able and He will. I pray for God to protect them - and my daughter, son and daughter-in-law from the evil one.
There are certainly other things I pray about for my grandsons, but these are the ones with which I begin. What do you pray about for your grandchildren?
