Train Up the Ones We Love

Twelve years ago when I first learned I was to become a grandma, I knew there were many things I wanted to do as a grandma, but at the top of my "list" was handing down the faith - and it remains at the top of my list today. Over the years I have been blessed with three grandsons and the thing I want the most is for them to grow to love, walk and talk with God on their own. It is, "the first and most natural condition of things."

I'm sure this is true for you as well. As we hand down the faith, there are certainly going to be times when things seem to be going well; times when the ones we love make the choice to believe and we have been able to train them in the, "nurture and admonition of the Lord". These times certainly bring us much joy.

It is also possible there are times when, even though we did what we knew to do to train the ones we love in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, some of the ones we love are not walking with God; times when our hearts break and we feel like we do not know what to do next. It is in these times when it is important for us to remember the thing which is our job and the thing which is God's job. God has called us to faithfully hand down the faith and He has promised to faithfully draw all people - including the ones we love - to Him.

So, lets keep our focus upon doing our job and train up the ones we love. We are able to trust God to do His job.
