- Of course, first of all, make it a matter of prayer. We need to be people who pray faithfully for our grandchildren.
- Tell our grandchildren the amazing and everyday things God has done in the past - this is so they get to know Who God is and what it looks like when He works in our lives. When they know these things, they will remember what He does and will know Him.
- Be focused and intentional when it comes to helping your grandchildren learn to be people who talk with God on their own. Yes, they need to know you pray. Yes, then need to hear your pray. Yes, they need to know they are able to ask you to pray for them. But, they must learn to be people who talk to God on their own if they are going to have a walk of their own which will last through the blessings and challenges they will experience throughout their lives. (Get the PDF of Praying Deeper Through the Psalms for Children for just $5 - it will help equip the children you love ages four through fourteen, so they learn to be people who talk with God on their own.)
- Keep a record of the things God does; the ways He answers prayer and engage your grandchildren in adding to your blessings jar or God's Great Deeds Journal. Do not trust people to remember - record what God does, so it is there for future generations to know.
So, disturb the present. Be engaged. Invest your time in the place where it matters the most now - in your grandchildren - it also matters later, because when you do, you will better the future.
