Gratitude Helps Us See the Blessings

Difficult times are inevitable. We will face adversity in our lifetime, but even in the times which challenge, we are able to see God's blessings when we look for them. If, when these times come, we make the choice to focus our view on the blessings, we will experience gratitude. Help the children you love learn to be people who look for blessings and experience gratitude - consider the following . . .
  • Ask your grandchildren/children to share something for which they are thankful at meals.
  • Give each grandchild/child the opportunity to share something for which they are thankful before they leave your home or go to bed if they are at your house for a sleepover.
  • Regularly share with them things for which you are thankful.
  • Mail or email your grandchildren photos of things for which you are thankful.
  • Start a Thankful Jar - and add drawings/descriptions of things for which you are thankful.
  • Keep a Thankful Journal and add things for which you are thankful - and invite your family to add to it as well. Keep all the journals where you are able to go back and remember the many ways God has blessed you.
These are just a few ways to help us, and the ones we love, lift our eyes off the things we lack - or the things which may frighten us - so we see the blessings we possess and become people who are grateful.
