We Cannot Love Too Much

We grandmas tend to get the false "rap" of being people who "spoil" grandchildren. I personally believe it is impossible to spoil grandchildren (and even wrote a book with this title), because as long as we are being faithful to hand down the faith and to follow what Jesus told us to do in Matthew 22:36-40, we will never spoil our grandchildren. When we focus upon following God's example of well-loving us and we love as He has loved us, we know it is impossible to well-love our grandchildren too much.
So, how does God, "well-love" us? Well, consider the following . . .
  1. God chose to love us - John 3:16 - For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Romans 5:8 - But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Ephesians 1:3,4 - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world. 1 John 4:15 - We love because he first loved us. God loved us first, because He made the choice to love us.
  2. God's love for us is faithful and will never end - Psalm 86:15 - But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Jeremiah 31:3 - The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you. Psalm 136:26 - Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his steadfast love endures forever. Psalm 36:7 - How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. Isaiah 54:10 - "For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. Romans 8:38,39 - For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Lamentations 3:22,23 - The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. God's love for us is steadfast, faithful and everlasting - it will never end.
  3. God will never leave us and He has blessings and good plans for our lives - Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Romans 5:5 - And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. Isaiah 41:13 - For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Ephesians 3:17-19 - So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Isaiah 41:10 - Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Joshua 1:9 - Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Romans 8:28 - And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. Isaiah 49:16 - I will not forget you. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.God's love for us shows itself in how His love lasts, and brings about His good plans for our lives.
So, God's love is steadfast, faithful and does not end; His love shows how He wants the best for us and wants us to be people who make the wise choice to follow Him. When we love our children and grandchildren as He loves us, we will have a love which is steadfast, faithful and does not end; our love will show in the way we want what is best for them and want them to be people who make the wise choice to follow God. Love your grandchildren and children the way God loves you and you will know you will never love them too much, it is impossible to spoil them.
