We know this is true, because God promises it in Jeremiah 29:11 -
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. While we do not know what is, "around the corner" for our grandchildren, children, family, friends, and ourselves, we know God does. As we all experience this uncertainty, consider involving your grandchildren in making a periscope as a "Mystery Bag" project to help them learn and remember how they are able to trust God's plans for them.
You will need . . .
- Paper lunch bag - one per child
- CD or DVD you are able to cut up - one for every two children
- Paper cereal box - one per child
- Tape
- Scissors
Look at the instructions for making periscopes at this link, send the supplies to your grandchildren, arrange a time to connect through tech, then work together to make periscopes. As you make your periscopes, talk about how they are used to see things around a corner. Then talk about how in our lives we are not always able to see what is ahead of us, but no matter what, we are able to trust God knows what the future holds for us and He has promised to have plans for us which will not harm us, but which will instead give us hope and a future.
Encourage your grandchildren to keep their periscope where they will see it and remember God has great plans for them and they are able to trust Him.
