A Powerful Way to Say, "I Care About You"

As grandmas (and grandpas, too) we know there are times when our grandchildren will ask questions which leave us laughing. There are times when they will ask questions which leave us wondering where they possibly came up with their question. They will sometimes ask us questions which result in meaningful conversations. There are also times when their questions reveal a deep need or concern.

Regardless of the question, we need to be ready to answer honestly and with our full attention. If our grandchildren know we will give them our full attention when they have a question, even if their question is silly or not really serious, they will be more likely to ask us their serious questions. If our grandchildren know we will listen, show respect, and be willing to talk, they will be more likely to ask us their serious questions.

When we give our full attention, listen, show respect, and are willing to have important conversations, we are showing we truly care in ways they will notice and remember. So, be a grandma (or grandpa) who chooses the most powerful ways to say, "I care about you" . . . it matters; truly matters.
