Look at Psalm 90:12 -
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. And at Colossians 4:5 -
Walk in wisdom . . . making the best use of the time.Wisdom. We need to be wise, so we make the best use of our time and spend the time we have in ways which will last beyond ourselves by leaving a legacy of faith. Handing down the faith matters . . . and lasts for generations!
My own grandsons are doing what grandchildren do . . . they are growing up so quickly! It seems like just yesterday when my oldest grandson was a tiny baby with chubby cheeks, long curly brown hair and just as cute as can be; but in just a few months he will be twelve! Yes, one year away from being a teen!
We need to be grandmas (and grandpas and parents, too) who live intentionally. Who are focused upon handing down the faith. Who have a plan. Parents are the most influential people in the lives of children, and grandparents are the second most influential people. We are able to make a difference. What we say and do does really matter, so why wouldn't we be intentional about handing down the faith?
Time does not stand still and we are not able to stand still either. We must be intentional about handing down the faith. We must have a plan. We must watch for and plan opportunities to share with our grandchildren how God was faithful yesterday, what He is doing to be faithful today, and why we know He will be faithful tomorrow. We must "grandma" on purpose! When we do, we will make a positive difference in their lives.
