A Prayer from Psalm 102 for Our Families

As I watched the news this morning I was reminded of how there is so much anger, unhappiness, pain and even hate, yes even hate, in our world today. My heart breaks for the environment in which my grandsons are growing up. There is so much chaos, so much anger, such a lack of peace, joy and love.

I was reminded once again, why it matters so much for me to be faithful about handing down the faith on purpose. The world in which my grandsons are growing up lacks peace, love and joy, but these things are available in abundance from God! We were never intended to find them in the world - they are gifts from God.

So, as I pray for my grandsons today, Psalms 102:12 & 18 is what I'm praying for them, and for me as well . . .
Dear Heavenly Father, I find such comfort in knowing You rule, not just in the past, or in the future, but today and for forever. Please help me be faithful to tell my children and grandchildren of Your greatness, so they will be faithful to do the same. I thank You for Your written Word which shows us all how awesome You are; please help us remember to record how You show Your faithful love, joy and peace to us in a world which lacks these things, so we, and those who come behind us, will be filled with praise for You, Who You are and all You do; and so we will know and remember to find them in You. Thank You for Your great love for us; I love You, too! Amen.
