Being Found!

When my grandsons were young, they loved to play hide-and-seek . . . did I say "loved"??? No, it is more like they "LOVED" to play hide-and-seek! They loved hiding and then they loved being found, but I think it was the "being found" part they loved the most, because they typically ended up telling us where they were "hiding"! They said things like, "I'm going to hide under the table and you can count, then you can come and find me!" Or, when we finished counting and said; "Ready or not, here we come, oh where oh where could you be?", they typically told us; "I'm in the closet!" or "I'm under the table!" or wherever they were. Plus, if we took too "long" to "find" them, they made little sounds . . . to "help" us find them! Then when we found them, they tended to laugh, give hugs, and we did it all over again . . . and again . . . and again! Did I mention they "LOVED" playing hide and seek??!!!

While we may get too big to play hide-and-seek - unless we are playing with our grandchildren - I believe we all want to be "found". As they grow up, our grandchildren need to, "be found". They need to know you notice them, see them, listen to them, and are thankful for them. They also need to learn to "find" others as well. If our grandchildren grow up to be kind, tenderhearted, and loving people who "find" others, they will be following in Jesus' footprints.

And, most importantly, make sure they know the two most important things about, "being found". First of all, Jesus "found" them. In Luke 19:10 Jesus said, "For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Share this truth with your grandchildren.

Secondly - Jesus wants your grandchildren to find Him! Look at Jeremiah 29:13 - You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jesus "plays" hide-and-seek just like our grandchildren did when they were little - He tells us where to find Him, because he wants us to find Him!

So, the next time you play hide-and-seek with your grandchildren - or maybe talk with them about when they were little and you played hide-and-seek, be sure to share with them how Jesus came to "find" them, they are able to find Jesus, and how they are able to be people who "find" others . . . I absolutely want my grandsons to know these things!
