Be Thankful, Show Thankfulness & Give Thanks - Colossians 3:15-17

It is easy to think about being thankful this time of year; after all, a week from this coming Thursday is Thanksgiving. But while we tend to talk about being thankful, we may end up actually being thankful in a "busy way". By this I mean we may not really stop to think about all of God's many blessings and just give and say the "typical" type of thanks.

This does not mean we are not able to be, or should not be, thankful for the every-day, "typical" things, but our thankfulness is able to be, "deep". It is able to be something which shows every day and in every thing we say and do.

Colossians 3:15-17 gives us some wonderful inspiration to help our thanks be "real".

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

So, this Thanksgiving, and at all times, let's be grandmas who are known as people who are ruled by the peace of Christ, people who are wise in all we say and do and who show true thankfulness in everything we say and do. This is modeling true thankfulness all the time and is what it looks like to hand down confident faith.
