But, 2020 has also been a year where we have had the opportunity to draw near to God in a way we may not have in previous years. When we experienced loss (whether due to normal life happenings or covid), if we made the choice to turn to God, we certainly found He was right there with us. When we experienced uncertainty and fear, if we made the choice to turn to God, we certainly found He was right there with us. As we experienced - and even continue to experience isolation, if we made the choice to turn to God, we certainly found He was right there with us.
And, we have been able to see as people around the world stood up, and helped those in need. We have been able to see how the medical professionals in our communities have showed such compassion to people who went through their final days, the families, and those who they served as they regained their health.
There have absolutely been things about 2020 which were awful - loss of life, loss of businesses/jobs, isolation, but there have also been so many gifts - so many blessings - so many reminders of God's great faithfulness. When we show our thankfulness to God for these things, and model turning to Him in challenging and flat out difficult times, we are handing down confident faith. This is another blessing of 2020 - our grown children and grandchildren have had the opportunity to watch as we hold tightly to God, trust His faithfulness, and experience His joy - even in very difficult times.
