Happy Day After Christmas

A few years ago Matthew West wrote the song, "Happy Day After Christmas", so today, on the day after Christmas, I thought I'd share the song (at this link), the lyrics, and a few thoughts about continuing to hand down the message to the ones we love of how, "even when Christmas is over, the Light of the World is still here!"

Here comes the letdown Christmas is over Here comes the meltdown, there goes the cheer But before we have a breakdown, let us remember The light of the world is still here
Happy day after Christmas, And merry rest of the year. Even when Christmas is over, The light of the world is still here. The light of the world is still here.
Come January I’m ready for summer. The Super Bowl’s over and I’ll settle for spring. Sometimes we all need a change in the weather, But it won’t change the reason we sing.
Happy day after Christmas. And merry rest of the year. Even when Christmas is over,The light of the world is still here, The light of the world, The light of the world, The light of the world is still here.
So take down the stockings, take back the sweaters. Take down the lights, and the star, and the tree. But don’t let this world take your joy after Christmas. Take joy to the world and just sing.
Happy day after Christmas. And merry rest of the year. Even when Christmas is over, The light of the world is still here. The light of the world is still here.
Yes, Christmas 2020 is behind us, but Christmas is not about the gifts, the gatherings or anything other than The Gift - Jesus and we are able to celebrate Him all year long. I particularly like the lines in the song which say; "don't let this world take your joy after Christmas, take joy to the world and just sing." Be a grandma (or grandpa/parent) who lives life in such a way as to show true joy at Christmas, and all year long.

Christmas is a time of year when we typically tend to hand down confident faith as we talk about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. This is wonderful, but don't let the handing down of confident faith stop. Keep on handing down confident faith as you talk about how Jesus is here and we are able to live each day with joy, because He came to bring us a full, joyful life.
