Disturb the Present

We want the future to be better for our grandchildren; what grandparent does not? So, we have to be intentional about shaking up the status quo of the present. We need to be grandmas who are purposeful when it comes to motivating our grandchildren to walk with God now, so they grow in their walk with God and become people who love Him and others.

For us to be able to effectively motivate our grandchildren, we have to know them. This means we need to spend time with them - as much as we are able to do in person, virtually, and over the phone as well. Find out what makes your grandchildren, "tick". Discover the unique traits and interests God gave your grandchildren which makes them one-of-a-kind. Be generous in how you sincerely compliment them as they grow, learn and try new things - even if, like with one of my grandsons, it involves climbing everything in sight and hanging upside down as often as possible!

Encourage your grandchildren with the truth about how God knew what He was doing when He created them and He did not make any mistakes. Be their biggest "cheer-leaders" as they learn and try new things. Rejoice with them as they grow in their walk with God.

Disturb the present. Be engaged. Invest your time in the place where it matters the most now - in your grandchildren - it matters later as well.
