Unleash Eternity-Impacting Power

I love this quote from Deborah Haddix -

"There is no greater gift we can give to our grandchildren and no stronger weapon we can wield on their behalf, than our prayers. When we pray, eternity-impacting power is unleashed upon their lives." Oh yes, as grandmas (and grandpas/parents, too) we pray for the children we love, but knowing doing so unleashes "eternity-impacting power" upon their lives reminds me how important it is for me to pray every day, throughout the day and whenever I wake up in the wee hours of the morning.

This "eternity-impacting power" is not based upon me - it is based upon God's faithful promise to hear, listen to, and answer my prayers (Jeremiah 29:11). While there are things I am able to do to help and hand down confident faith to my grandchildren, there are so many things I am not able to do. But, God is not limited by anything. He is not only able to do far more than we are ever even able to imagine, He is willing to do these things.

With all the changes and uncertainty in our lives today, knowing we are able to depend upon God's faithful promises and His "eternity-impacting power" gives us reason to hope and even more reason to pray. If ever there were a time when we needed this certainty, it is today. So, give the greatest gift, the "eternity-impacting power" to the ones you love by praying for them and by helping them learn to be people who talk with God on their own as well.
